Golden Touch - THE models that hit the London 2012 Closing Ceremony runway
One of the best parts of the closing ceremony earlier this week was the showcase of what England is all about. Apart from Music, which was a big part of the show (during the opening ceremony too), and a part of British culture was the Fashion and the mark we have left on the fashion world! They did a great job walking out in British designers showcasing to the rest of the world what great British fashion is all about.
The line up of our top models included some mainstream popular faces that we know and love as well as some that left us asking…who?!
Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Karen Elson, David Gandy, Jourdan Dunn, Georgia May Jagger, Stella Tennant, Lily Cole and Lily Donaldson.
I guess that ‘bad teeth’ stereotype can be kicked out of the window, huh?
The designer threads worn by the beautiful people as well as the models themselves were featured in Vogue’s famous September Issue - historically the biggest selling edition of the year, every year!
Let’s begin with the breakdown of who wore what.
Naomi Campbell looked elegant in Alexander McQueen.
Kate Moss shone in Alexander McQueen too.
Karen Elson looked stunning in Burberry.
David Gandy looks hot (as hell) in Paul Smith. Have you seen his blog?
Jourdan Dunn made us jealous in Jonathan Saunders and Stephen Jones.
Georgia May Jagger surprisingly wore Victoria Beckham.
Stella Tennant looked amazing in Christopher Kane.
Lily Cole looked pretty in Erdem.
Lily Donaldson dazzled us in Vivienne Westwood.
Check out the rest of the September issue’s dresses and outfits at Vogue.co.uk.
What do these materials, designs and colours mean for the coming season?
A lot more ‘new’ materials will be used like the fit-and-flare high-shine gold gazar dress worn by Georgia May Jagger, made by Victoria Beckham.
We think the White and Gold combination will be a big Autumn/Winter fixture as well as the gold floral lace, sequins, and crystal elements.
Let’s hope these elements make it to the high-street for you and me because who doesn’t love a sparkly christmas and new years!

Stella McCartney: Proud to be the designer of TeamGB’s uniforms
Think British design and who comes to mind…none other than Stella McCartney. she was rightfully chosen to design Team GB’s outfits for the Olympic events including the opening ceremony!
The great British designer has done us proud in London with a real set of gold medal deserving kits. The Adidas by Stella McCartney Team GB kits include the Gold and white opening ceremony tracksuits, the athletics gear, tennis kits, and basically every event’s outfits.
Team GB’s opening ceremony outfits turned a few heads:
Other Olympic teams outfit designers:
Castro (Opening Ceremony) - Israel:
Hermes (Equestrian team) - France:
Ralph Lauren - USA:
Giorgio Armani and Prada - Italy:
Salvatore Ferragamo - San Marino:
Behind the scenes, Stella was having some fun of her own leading up to the main event.
Days before London’s big salute, McCartney was busy snapping pics from behind the scenes, offering an inside glimpse on everything from her own clothing choice (“From a fashion perspective, I went for a total gold look,” she told Vogue of her shimmering track suit) to the vibe backstage at the stadium.
She documented her fun on her Instagram account (Stella_McCartney)
Here are some of the pics from her account! Did we say #Jealous! Only joking Stella…we love you!
Jumping for joy in her jumpsuit?:

One final word…#GoTeamGB!!
WE LOVE ALEXA and David too!
This is an official Alexa Alert!
Yes, there she is, delicately popped on top of a postbox, with the oh-so-hot model David Gandy - who incidentally was everywhere during the weekend (These days captured more on the streets than on the catwalk), is representing British Fashion.
Alexa Chung, the British Fashion Council ambassador, was a regular fixture with the boys, was DJ-ing the night away at the Mr Porter/Jimmy Choo/Esquire party and not dissapointing might i add!
One of the Telegraph reporters was there too and had a recap - “Well we had a great turnout. Jon Hamm [aka Don Draper] came, Florence Welch came, Alexa Chung DJ’d, David Gandy came, Sherlock Holmes came. It was fun, it was boozy and it went on til God-knows-when.” Was there bad behaviour?” No, none. But there was dancing. We had Graham Norton and David Furnish on the dance floor which was a very Esquire moment, as you can imagine.”
Remember to keep your fashion POPing!
London Collections: The Men
HACKETT impressed us with an 18-strong brigade of models carrying the traditional City accessories (umbrellas and bowler hats) and wearing deliciously dapper double and single breasted suits - some a bit too loud to be a convincingly vintage banker.
These guys closed Hackett’s show at the Royal Opera House with a (Fashion) Pop!
